Learning objectives:

Students dig deeper into a story they are learning about and become specialists in their given assignment. Students tell their part of the story in their own words using the storytelling app.

Implemented digital tools:

An iPad. Internet connection to download the app and to send the assignments to the teacher. Toontastic app.

Supported digital competence for student:

Communication and collaboration, Digital content creation, Problem solving

Elaboration of the competences:

Students learn communication and collaboration by working together and problem solving when they have to find solutions on what to say and other things that will come up. Students learn digital content creation by working with the app.

Preparation:

The first step is to download the Toontastic app which one will find in the App store/Play store. Toontastic is a creative storytelling app and students are going to tell a story. In this case they have already read the story beforehand and therefore they will tell parts of the story in their own words and become experts in that event.

Implementation:

Students will have to choose how many windows/slides their story will be. They will also have to choose a scene. You can both create a scene or choose from the scenes that have already been provided by the app. Next students will pick characters for the story. There is an option to either create the characters yourself or to choose from many adaptable characters in the app. The students have to agree with what is important in the event that they were given to work on. Then they decide what the characters say and how they move across the scene.

Conclusion:

After students will have finished their story they will send the video to their teacher.
